In Adversity's Crush...
...There's Peace In The Hush.
SEARCHING FOR INNER PEACE?
Do you remember my suggestion at the beginning of the home-page? I had suggested that the two definitions given for the word "hush" were both key in experiencing this elusive quality. **************************************************** Once again, the definitions and proposition are as follows: "To calm; soothe..." or "To be or become silent or still." May I suggest that it is in both of these acts that true peace of mind is found? **************************************************** I propose to you that, as the second definition suggests, it is in the act of being still that we set the stage for inner peace...or tranquility. "BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD" There are two definitions, as well, for the word "still" that can benefit us here: 1) "Free from disturbance , agitation, or commotion." 2) "Silence; quiet." What you see taking form here is what is often coined as "solitude and silence." Now don't let me lose you here...this is IMPORTANT. My friend, if you really want peace in the middle of the crush of adversity, you must begin by making time... ...to be alone. You and I live in a busy world... ...set aside some time to be still. Start with fifteen minutes and do the following: * Find a quiet place (empty room, park bench, etc...but, it has to be quiet) * Sit in a comfortable position... * Take three deep breaths... * Close your eyes... * Rest your mind for a moment...push out all the clutter... * Now, and this is very important, ask God if He is out there...I,m not kidding...ask Him... * By doing this, you have opened the door to Him...perhaps a door that you had closed and locked from the inside...but now it's open... * And now, introduce yourself to Him (he knows who you are...but this is to help you start to converse with Him) * Now, begin to talk to Him from the heart...you can tell Him anything and He won't tell a soul...just be honest. * This is the beginning of what could be the most amazing relationship you have ever had. THIS IS CALLED PRAYER You and I both know this is called prayer...but did you know... ...God designed prayer to be the relationship-builder between you and Him...and that He longs for you to truly know Him? As a matter of fact, this is where the first definition of "hush" comes in: "To calm; soothe...". This is where God begins to work His wonders in your life. You see, when you begin to take time to build a relationship with God through prayer, you can't help but be changed. As you quiet yourself before Him and acknowledge that He exists, His love and His goodness begins to soothe your weary soul... ...and calm your most anxious thoughts... ...you find peace. The peace that surpasses all understanding is available to those who truly desire it...but so few are willing to spend time with the One Who is peace...the Prince of Peace... CAST YOUR CARES UPON HIM FOR HE CARES FOR YOU You can conquer your adversity and overcome your obstacles when you begin to give them over to God...He can handle it, my friend...and He wants you to trust Him enough to do it. PRAY As you begin to pray to Him on a daily basis, you will find that your prayer-life will begin to change... There are different stages of prayer: (Credit to Mark E.
