Jesus Empowers You To Conquer Adversity...
...Through Surrender.
Jesus, the second Person of the Trinity, is the authority behind all things known and unknown to human-kind. "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me." OK...We're getting into some deeper stuff here... ...are you ready? Good. Here we go... Basically, everything you think you may know about Jesus, and who He really is... is probably inaccurate...or in the very least...inadequate. Stay with me, here. :-) All I'm saying is the image that you and I have of Him is, more than likely, infinitely lacking in all respects. I say this, friend, to get your attention. The truth is... ...you and I could never know all there is to know about the Son of God. Our thinking is too small. On the page titled, "The Name of God," I presented to you the idea that Jesus is God... ...it is this very thought that should obliterate any image you may have of Him. Your intellect...and mine...is just too limited. The "eyes" of our minds are too attached to this physical plane in which we live. You cannot logically grasp the concept of God. You have to go beyond logic and empirical evidence... ...to the realm of faith. Faith makes it possible to "see" with new eyes. "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." It is by faith you are able to begin "seeing" who Jesus really is... ...He will begin to reveal Himself to you through your new eyes of faith. But... ...it's all just too confusing...right? My friend, it's not my intent to bring confusion...but to instead, bring clarity and proper understanding of a difficult, but important, subject. Here's Where The Rubber Meets The Road It is by faith (believing what you cannot prove) that you will move on to infinitely greater things in your life. It is by faith you believe that Jesus is God. Friend...the identity of Jesus must be established in your mind. This is important... ...because your continued progress hinges on it. If you want to move forward with a deeper and more intimate relationship with Him...you will need to let go of control. You will need to let Him be "number one." To do this... ...you must surrender your life to Him. Did I lose you? Can you see why it is so important to know Who He is? If you don't believe He's the One Who created you, "wired" you, and knew your every day before the world was even created... ...you will never be able to do what you must... ...to become all you were created to be. IT IS IN THIS SURRENDER THAT ALL OF HEAVEN OPENS UP TO YOU...YOU BECOME A CHILD OF GOD! It's OK if you're not ready for such a lofty commitment, but know this... ...the peace you desire... ...and the power you need to conquer adversity and overcome obstacles... ...becomes available in the truth that "...every spiritual blessing..." becomes yours through your surrender to God in the name of Jesus. He loves you SO much...that He came to earth in the form of a man... ...knowing full well that He would be killed by evil men...though He did nothing but GOOD when He was here. (He was and will be the only perfect man.) He did it to show His love... "...for no greater love has anyone than this...that He lay down His life for His friends." You see, the holiness of God demanded justice for the evil of humankind...you and I have fallen way short of God's requirements for right living... ...no matter how good you may think you are. :-) The only form of justice that would be sufficient to match the perfect holiness of God would be... ...death. The penalty for our wrong choices in life...our disobedience to His perfect commands...is death. God loves you so much that He paid this penalty for you and I... ...by suffering a cruel, torturous death at the hands of evil men. This Is Good News! God paid the price He required...in the person of Jesus...so you and I could get into heaven to be with Him forever! And not only that... ...He provides access...RIGHT NOW...to all the wonders of what true spiritual LIFE is all about... ...it's all about pleasing HIM by learning how to really love. He doesn't leave us powerless in this task... ...what He asks us to do...he empowers us to accomplish. Through your surrender (the voluntary giving of yourself to God in Jesus' name), you acknowledge His authority as King of all kings and Lord of all lords... ...and are adopted into His wonderful family... ...with all the benefits that implies! I Don't Deserve This! My friend, NO ONE deserves all the wonderful things that become yours when you humbly submit yourself to the Son of God... ...and it's impossible to earn or buy any of the benefits you receive as His new adopted child. They are given to you freely. *************************************************** Here are a few of the incredible benefits of becoming a child of God: * You receive His grace: ...which means everything you receive from Him is a gift...it can't be earned or purchased (through doing good things, giving money to charity, etc.). * You receive His mercy: ...which means you don't have to be afraid of Him...He's not going to make you pay the penalty of disobedience to His perfect commands...death...because He paid it for you. * You receive His forgiveness: ...which means you don't have to live with the guilt of past mistakes...present mistakes...or even future mistakes! (More on this later.) * You receive His peace: ...because you no longer need to live in guilt or fear of anything, there comes a peace within that is difficult to understand...but amazing to experience. * You receive adoption into His family: ...you become His son or daughter and He becomes your Heavenly Father--You will experience the spirit of adoption when you fully embrace this truth during your time spent with Him in the "hush"...He is able to make you know this as you come to know Him better. * You receive His love: ...there is a comfort that is hard to explain when you truly understand that the One Who created you loves you with an everlasting love and you experience the "warm" embrace of His Presence. * You receive His power: ...this may be difficult to understand right now, but the third person of the Trinity is the spirit of God...the Holy Spirit. Just as we have a spirit...so does He...and we were created in a manner which allows His spirit to live IN us! It is His spirit within us that empowers us to live lives that conquer adversity and overcome obstacles...and so much more. (More on this later, as well.) * You receive entrance into His kingdom, which is in Heaven: ...only those who submit themselves to the Lordship of Jesus will be allowed to enter and remain in the Kingdom of God...there is a different place for those who don't. * You receive His joy: ...when you learn to live in the power of the Holy Spirit (it is a learning process), you will begin to see what is called the "fruit" of the Holy Spirit in your life...joy is one of those fruits that you will begin to experience almost immediately when you give your life to Jesus...for an infinitely better life in return. (The "fruit" of the Spirit is discussed on "The Holy Spirit" page.) *************************************************** Now, this is not an exhaustive list by any means, but it begins to provide insight into the kind of life that is available to you here and now. A New Point of View Due to the nature of these benefits, they enable you to see things from a higher perspective. Although all of these, and more, are made available to you the moment you "surrender"... ...you begin to understand that there is much more to life than living "for the moment." You begin to look at life with an eternal perspective. You realize you were put here at this time...for a reason. Your life begins to have meaning...a higher purpose than what you had understood...before you surrendered. You begin to realize that the significance of your life lies in discovering that purpose...and in fulfilling it through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives within you. You partner with God ...in the name of Jesus...by the power of the holy Spirit... ...to accomplish the tasks for which you were created. It doesn't get much better than that!
