GOD Still Reigns...
...Even In Adversity.

The Name of God is a strong tower...

Have you ever seen the famous picture, taken by Jean Guichard, of a lighthouse off the coast of France during a storm? The lighthouse isn't built up on a high bluff or anywhere on the mainland...

...it is located out in the middle of the water!

The picture is quite spectacular...the shot portrays the lighthouse engulfed by a massive wave that rises to almost half the height of the structure...

...and to top it all off, the photo was taken facing the entrance of the tower with a man standing in the doorway looking up at the camera!

I have this very picture in my room with an inscription embedded into the frame that says:

"The Lord has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge. Psalm 94:22"

(By the way, thank-you, Tiffany...that was an awesome gift!)

So, what's the point?

The point is...that this picture is what I think of when I read...

..."The Name of God is a strong tower..."or, "He is my rock"..."refuge"..."fortress".

I can't help but think of that guy standing in the doorway with the angry waves crashing all around...

...he's come to trust in the strength of that strong tower!

He would be NO match for those storm-driven waves...

What Or Who Do You Put YOUR Trust In?

My friend, when adversity comes your way and the "storm" is in full swing...the waves are too big...and you seem so small in comparison...

...where do you go?

I pray you have at least one other person you can turn to ...to lean on...someone you can trust...

But, what if you don"t?

I know there are many people in this world who don't have someone they could really trust their heart to...

...and those who thought they did...but were painfully disappointed by betrayal, deception, or a wide variety of other things.

There's a lot of hurting people out there...some with no one to turn to for strength, encouragement, understanding...

Perhaps you're one off those people.

How do you deal with the pain...the loss...the struggle?

Society offers a wide array of coping mechanisms..."pain remedies"...masks...etc...

* drugs

* alcohol

* sex

* busy-ness (can you say work-a-holic?)

* isolation

* television (escapism)

* religion

...and more,but you get the point.

It can all become very empty...unfulfilled...debilitating...destructive...harmful...

...actually, completely missing the mark.

When Adversity Rains...GOD Still Reigns...

What do I mean by "GOD Still Reigns"?

I mean...NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS IN LIFE...HE is:

* ...in complete control (sovereign)

* ...able (all-powerful, almighty)

* ...all-knowing (omniscient)

* ...willing (ready to act, prepared)

* ...full of love, joy, peace...He's patient, kind, generous, faithful, gentle, and...forgiving.

And that's just scratching the surface!

This is your LIFE, my friend...

...don't try and "patch" things up with duct tape or a Band-Aid...

...DO IT RIGHT.

Whether you believe it, or not...whether you understand it fully, or not...

...God created you. He knows what you're all about. He knows what makes you "tick".

He knows your pain, your struggles, your fears...

...He knows your deepest need at the very core of who you are.

He knows...

Come to Him...He welcomes you with open arms...Let Him be your strong tower..your refuge...your rock...

Call Upon The Name

By now, you should have read about the "hush"...

It's the time you set aside to speak to your Creator...a quiet place with no distractions.

It is during this time that you learn to call upon His name.

Friend, there is a lifetime of information you will never know about God...He is full of mystery...

...yet, He wants you to know Him...

How is this possible?

This One Who created the universe: the sun, stars, planets, and everything else in this mind-boggling complexity of perfection...

...the same One Who created the earth with its flawless beauty: the sky and the oceans and everything that lives in them; the mountains, plains, deserts, jungles, etc. and the rich variety of animal life that live in them;

...the God Who created every man, woman, and child...

...Who created the fruit of the land--enough to feed us all...

...this same God Who gives consciousness to the mind--an awareness of being alive--and empowers us with abilities, skills, intelligence...providing wisdom, understanding, insight...the ability to dream and imagine...to create...

...not to mention the "hidden" realms of quantum physics...

...of the spiritual dimension...

...and still so much more.

How can you and I come to know this One Who is in and through all of this...Who dwells within it and beyond it...

...Who holds it all in His hand?

And...

...if we could come to know Him...how could He ever really understand us and what we're going through?

(He's so big and we're so small.)

Easy...

...He's the Creator of all things...He made a way.

You see...He decided to give earth a little visit...

He came to this world in human form and walked "in our shoes" for awhile!

God became a man...

...and His name is Jesus.

The Name

Jesus...the name of God.

The name of God is a strong tower...the name of JESUS is your strong tower.

When you come to God, come to Him in the name of Jesus...

...for at the name of Jesus every knee will bow and every tongue confess that He is LORD.

KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS...Ruler over all...

You see...

...the great wonder of the Creator (also known as the Father), was brought into sharp focus in the person of Jesus (the Son)...and when Jesus walked this earth,the Father poured out His power on Him...and through Him by the personality of the Holy Spirit (the Comforter)...

...revealing what some call the Trinity.

It is because God came to earth in the person of Jesus...

...and experienced everything you and I go through in one form or another...

...that it becomes possible for Him to know us. He IS able to relate to our struggles, fears, pain, temptations, and... whatever else you may be going through right now.

Jesus is able to meet you where you are.

So, when you come to God in the "hush"...come to Him in the name of Jesus...

...the Name of God.
