JESUS: SAVIOR...MESSIAH...LORD

John 1:1-5 (NCV)

1 In the beginning there was the Word. n The Word was

with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the

beginning. 3 All things were made by him, and nothing

was made without him. 4 In him there was life, and that

life was the light of all people. 5 The Light shines in

the darkness, and the darkness has not overpowered it.

[1]n Word The Greek word is “logos,” meaning any kind of

communication; it could be translated “message.” Here,

it means Christ, because Christ was the way God told

people about himself.

Titus 3:4-7 (NCV)

4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior was

shown, 5 he saved us because of his mercy. It was not

because of good deeds we did to be right with him. He

saved us through the washing that made us new people

through the Holy Spirit. 6 God poured out richly upon us

that Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ our Savior. 7

Being made right with God by his grace, we could have

the hope of receiving the life that never ends.

1 John 4:13-16 (NCV)

13 We know that we live in God and he lives in us,

because he gave us his Spirit. 14 We have seen and can

testify that the Father sent his Son to be the Savior of

the world. 15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of

God has God living inside, and that person lives in God.

16 And so we know the love that God has for us, and we

trust that love.God is love. Those who live in love live

in God, and God lives in them.

Luke 1:46-47 (NCV)

“My soul praises the Lord...

47 ...my heart rejoices in God my Savior...

John 4:42 (NCV)

42 They said to the woman, “First we believed in Jesus

because of what you said, but now we believe because we

heard him ourselves. We know that this man really is the

Savior of the world.”

Luke 19:10 (NCV)

10 The Son of Man came to find lost people and save

them.”

John 3:16-18 (NCV)

16 “God loved the world so much that he gave his one and

only Son so that whoever believes in him may not be

lost, but have eternal life. 17 God did not send his Son

into the world to judge the world guilty, but to save

the world through him. 18 People who believe in God’s

Son are not judged guilty. Those who do not believe have

already been judged guilty, because they have not

believed in God’s one and only Son.

Romans 3:24-25 (NCV)

24...all need to be made right with God by his grace,

which is a free gift. They need to be made free from sin

through Jesus Christ. 25 God sent him to die in our

place to take away our sins. We receive forgiveness

through faith in the blood of Jesus’ death. This showed

that God always does what is right and fair, as in the

past when he was patient and did not punish people for

their sins.

Ephesians 2:4-10 (NCV)

4 But God’s mercy is great, and he loved us very much. 5

Though we were spiritually dead because of the things we

did against God, he gave us new life with Christ. You

have been saved by God’s grace. 6 And he raised us up

with Christ and gave us a seat with him in the heavens.

He did this for those in Christ Jesus 7 so that for all

future time he could show the very great riches of his

grace by being kind to us in Christ Jesus. 8 I mean that

you have been saved by grace through believing. You did

not save yourselves; it was a gift from God. 9 It was

not the result of your own efforts, so you cannot brag

about it. 10 God has made us what we are. In Christ

Jesus, God made us to do good works, which God planned

in advance for us to live our lives doing.

John 6:44-48 (NCV)

44 The Father is the One who sent me. No one can come to

me unless the Father draws him to me, and I will raise

that person up on the last day. 45 It is written in the

prophets, ‘They will all be taught by God.’ n Everyone

who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to

me. 46 No one has seen the Father except the One who is

from God; only he has seen the Father. 47 I tell you the

truth, whoever believes has eternal life. 48 I am the

bread that gives life.

Romans 10:9-13 (NCV)

9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and

if you believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from

the dead, you will be saved. 10 We believe with our

hearts, and so we are made right with God. And we

declare with our mouths that we believe, and so we are

saved. 11 As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in

him will never be disappointed.” n 12 That Scripture

says “anyone” because there is no difference between

those who are Jews and those who are not. The same Lord

is the Lord of all and gives many blessings to all who

trust in him, 13 as the Scripture says, “Anyone who

calls on the Lord will be saved.”

2 Corinthians 5:17-21 (NCV)

17 If anyone belongs to Christ, there is a new creation.

The old things have gone; everything is made new! 18 All

this is from God. Through [Jesus], God made peace between

us and himself, and God gave us the work of telling

everyone about the peace we can have with him. 19 God

was in Christ, making peace between the world and

himself. In Christ, God did not hold the world guilty of

its sins. And he gave us this message of peace. 20 So we

have been sent to speak for Christ. It is as if God is

calling to you through us. We speak for Christ when we

beg you to be at peace with God. 21 Christ had no sin,

but God made him become sin so that in Christ we could

become right with God.

2 Timothy 1:8-10 (NCV)

...God, who gives us the strength to do that, 9 saved us

and made us his holy people. That was not because of

anything we did ourselves but because of God’s purpose

and grace. That grace was given to us through Christ

Jesus before time began, 10 but it is now shown to us by

the coming of our Savior Christ Jesus. He destroyed

death, and through the Good News he showed us the way to

have life that cannot be destroyed.

Philippians 2:6-11 (NCV)

6 Christ himself was like God in everything.

But he did not think that being equal with God was

something to be used for his own benefit.

7 But he gave up his place with God and made

himself nothing.

He was born as a man

and became like a servant.

8 And when he was living as a man,

he humbled himself and was fully obedient to God,

even when that caused his death—death on a cross.

9 So God raised him to the highest place.

God made his name greater than every other name

10 so that every knee will bow to the name of

Jesus—

everyone in heaven, on earth, and under the earth.

11 And everyone will confess that Jesus Christ is

Lord

and bring glory to God the Father.

Romans 12:1-2 (NCV)

Give Your Lives to God

12 So brothers and sisters, since God has shown us great

mercy, I beg you to offer your lives as a living

sacrifice to him. Your offering must be only for God and

pleasing to him, which is the spiritual way for you to

worship. 2 Do not be shaped by this world; instead be

changed within by a new way of thinking. Then you will

be able to decide what God wants for you; you will know

what is good and pleasing to him and what is perfect.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NCV)

19 You should know that your body is a temple for the

Holy Spirit who is in you. You have received the Holy

Spirit from God. So you do not belong to yourselves, 20

because you were bought by God for a price. So honor God

with your bodies.

Acts 2:36 (NCV)

36 “So, all the people of Israel should know this truly:

God has made Jesus —the man you nailed to the cross—both

Lord and Christ.”

Psalm 68:19-20 (NCV)

19 Praise the Lord, God our Savior,

who helps us every day. Selah

20 Our God is a God who saves us;

the Lord God saves us from death.

Psalm 86:5-7 (NCV)

5 Lord, you are kind and forgiving

and have great love for those who call to you.

6 Lord, hear my prayer,

and listen when I ask for mercy.

7 I call to you in times of trouble,

because you will answer me.

Mark 12:30 (NCV)

30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your

soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’

Romans 5:8-11 (NCV)

8 But God shows his great love for us in this way:

[Jesus] died for us while we were still sinners.

9 So through Christ we will surely be saved from God’s

anger, because we have been made right with God by the

blood of Christ’s death. 10 While we were God’s enemies,

he made us his friends through the death of his Son.

Surely, now that we are his friends, he will save us

through his Son’s life. 11 And not only that, but now we

are also very happy in God through our Lord Jesus

Christ. Through him we are now God’s friends again.

Romans 8:37-39 (NCV)

37 But in all these things we are completely victorious

through God who showed his love for us. 38 Yes, I am

sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor

ruling spirits, nothing now, nothing in the future, no

powers, 39 nothing above us, nothing below us, nor

anything else in the whole world will ever be able to

separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus

our Lord.
